MM#91:Father's Day 2K11

We don't have a big celebration for Father's Day as a family. Although the boys created something for their dad,which I already posted for Kids in Doodles last Monday, a little & simple celebration we had a church,where all daddies were given a little token of appreciation,other than those, this year's father's day passed us by unnotice, and by the way, it was also my dad's 4th year death anniversarry, that is another reason why father's day is not a merry day to me. My dad passed away 4 years ago, a day before hubby's birthday and just a week before father's day.Since then,father's day to me has never been the same.
But anyway, since the boy had something for daddy, i just thought of giving him my own share to greet him on their special day and I created this digiscrap for him;

Protecting Your Identity

Unlike in the Philippines, Identity Theft is so rampant here in Canada and in US.Maybe one of the reason is because many people here prefer to do most of their transaction online rather than paying their bills like the old days of going to the post office and mailing the check.  Because of that, identity theft also becomes one of the major  problem. Thankfully, aside from the FBI and other government authority  who monitored all the online activities of the consumer and making sure they are safe, there are also many private companies that are doing the same type of service. Like the IdentityHawk for example,who specialized in identity theft protection.Their service is not only to protect your identity online but it's like protecting your life to all future hassle that identity theft may cause.
They used a cutting-edge and state-of-the-art-technology  to protect all things that is important to your daily life, like your SSS number, bank account number,credit score that most of us taken for granted thinking that because we do not have such amount of money, we are safe,but we all know that it is wrong to assumed,  hackers are not just after our money, but they are after our identity which in return they can use to steal money from other people.It is always better to feel protected offline and online.

In Getting Injured

Getting hurt at work,at school or by accident is not an incident we should ignore or put on hold or in most people,they just simply let it go thinking that it's not very serious and they are feeling perfectly fine, without thinking that somehow,in the years to come, their body will certainly complain about any previous physical pain.In US and here in Canada, if people get hurt and have no means to file any charges for the offending person,company or establishment, there are many law offices that offer their help and consultation for free.It is the same as the No win no fee UK policy,I guess they want to make it sure that having the financial problems will not hinder the people to get the justice they deserved.
It is also part of some school and university specially if they are into sports. If the students who play for the school got some serious injury because of playing, they could file for sports injury claims which is very important because some student who got seriously injured have a tendency to lose their scholarship if they can't compete anymore and this offices are there to help them to get the compensation they deserved, and if the injury is repetitive, they can file rsi compensation claims too.And as a mother of a boy who love joining all school sports activities, knowing that this help are available without any cost at least lessen if not totally erased my worry about my son getting hurt while playing.

I spend my Me-Time this week by visiting the local library and staying there for at least ten to fifteen minutes before picking up my youngest to school.It also gave me an opportunity to renew my library card. Another me time I had was having the house all by myself for two days,Tuesday and Thursday and enjoying a cup of coffee while playing games on Facebook. :)

Biker's Safety

Patrick went to a field trip today about Bicycle Safety,since Summer is fast approaching, the school want to make sure that all kids who knows how to ride their bike also knows the importance of using a helmet.  It is mandatory here for kids who are riding their bike to have one.They were given a  lecture about the importance of it and how it will save their life for future injury.  They were also informed to remind us, their parents, about how having the disability insurance is a must for each family.
After the field trip, they were each of them handed a free helmet.  Here he is sporting his red helmet.

Nevermind the facial expression, the sun was blinding him. :)

I'm The Worst Mom Ever!

Yes,I'm the worst mom in the whole wide world for calling my own son stupid!For the first time in his life of existence, I suddenly called him stupid out of my own stupidity and the guilt for saying that ate me inside and out.I know our kids have the tendency to push us to the limit, to test us how far can we go, and I just can't take it anymore,specially that I have to deal with my own issue. For the past week,my heart was so heavy for something that I do not know, I just can't be the person I want to be and then last Sunday,he just did something that I feel like I ran out of any other words and call him stupid.
Yesterday morning, I told him how I feel and how sorry I was, that it was very wrong of me to call him that, that  I didn't mean to, that there's no mom in their right mind that will call their own child stupid.I know he already forgive me but I don't think I  can forgive myself for doing such. :'(

A Gift For Her Baby

My younger sister is currently 4 months pregnant with their first baby. Because of her age, she is already considered being in a high risk pregnancy. She also told me that the hospital asked her  to get paternity test while pregnant, not because  she's not sure if the baby is her husband, of course it is, but they need it as a references just in case something arise during the whole pregnancy. We chatted last Sunday and I thought of giving her a surprised present, so I bought this baby gift set online and have it send to her;
I asked the seller to do me a favor by inserting a simple note telling her that it's a gift from me.Knowing how corrupt  the Philippine Postoffice, I am praying that she will get this item on time.

Kendrick's Classmate

Yesterday, while we are waiting for the bus that will take us to the field trip, I stayed inside Kendrick's classroom and managed to snap a few pictures of him and his classmate,which by the way, all of them are so camera-friendly.However, I'm still a li'l bit cautious in taking their pictures as their parents might not like it. Anyway, here's Kendrick with his bestfriend in the class which is I'm not going to post his name. :)
Aside from they were assigned to sit together  in the bus,they were also the buddies as their teacher apaired them up in two's  and I'm lucky enough to be assigned as the one that will keep an eye on them. :)
Most of his classmates are Asian, i think I've only seen a handful of caucasian, which  means, they have a petite body built like me, it also means that even if they are all grown up,they might not be needing the help of OxyElite Pro to stay slim.I guess Asian descents are lucky . :)

Nature Tripping

Kendrick love nature. That's why when he handed me his permit to join the filed trip,I did not hesitate to sign the form. I also got lucky to have a chance to accompany his class on this field trip. The place is also here in Windsor and it only took less than 20 minutes for the school bus to get us there.
I was really amazed as I observed them learning eagerly everything about nature. They listen attentively to the the guy that lead us the trail,they always express so much of excitement whenever they see a bug,a butterfly,a bird or any insect, that most of us adults,  think is creepy, but for them,it's another chance of discovery.
In this photo below, they just saw a bunch of bugs under a log that the guy moved on purposed to show what's underneath,and the kids gathered as if they found a treasure of gold. :D
While on this one, his teacher is showing them how Crayfish looks like;
I am really glad that I took a break from my online work, instead of finishing my article about hospital nurse uniform and medical scrub top (you could check the details here, if you want,http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/ )I decided to joined him and I think I learned a lot more than he did, not about the trip alone, but I learned something new about kids. For them, it doesn't really matter where you are, natures are everywhere to enjoy it everyday for free and the excitement it brings whenever they discover a thing or two.

Family Day At The Peace Fountain

I was really glad that regardless of the scorching heat last Monday, we still did managed to go and visit the Peace Fountain. We actually tried to go there last Sunday after church service, but the parking lot was full and we decided to just go home. It was already past 6PM when we got there,but it was so hot as if it's only 12 noon. While we were sitting at the Ice Cream Parlour waiting for our order, I saw a couple of people that works from  a hospital  taking off their  nurses scrubs uniform and change to regular shirt to make themselves  feel more comfortable, which is understandable because I know how it feels wearing those Barco scrubs when I was working last Summer,and oh boy,it's hot!!!
Anyway, here are some photos from  Monday's unplanned Family Day lol!

That's me and Patrick, I didn't know hubby took a picture of us.I am so pretty as long as I do not turn around and show my ugly face,LOL!

It was a hot but fun-filled day nonetheless!
